Postdocs in City Regions at SDU Denmark

The Department of Border Region Studies at the University of Southern
Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a/one or more position/s as
Postdoc on Intermediate City Regions in a Changing Environment. The
position is located in Sønderborg in Denmark. The position is vacant
as of September 1st, 2014 or soon thereafter.

The two post doc positions focus on the special challenges which
intermediate city regions - in a period of globalisation and rapidly
changing global production systems - face in mature industrial
societies.

The first position is in the field of history. Here special attention
will be paid to economic and spatial development. The purpose is to
analyse the path-dependency of the development of urban production
systems with special focus on Southern Jutland and the border region.

The second position will be in regional economics and/or business
administration. Focus is on regional and business development in
intermediate city regions, and how they are affected by the forces of
globalisation, and the national centralisation. A central issue could
be how intermediate city regions and their business communities have
to position themselves in a changing societal and policy environment
with regard to business, innovation and education. Reading abilities
in Danish and German are an advantage.

The two post doc positions are jointly financed by the BHJ-foundation
and the Department of Border Region Studies, University of Southern
Denmark.
