Le Dr. Ramon Sarro (Institute of Social & Cultural Anthropology, University of Oxford) présente une conférence intitulée :
« €œThe landscape of hope : prophelitic inscriptions in the Congo religions »€

Abstract
This paper analyses the importance of landscape in keeping alive the promises made by prophets in the Kikongo-speaking regions of Lower Congo region of the DRC and Northern Angola. Based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted on both sides of the border between 2007 and 2013 and
especially on a pilgrimage twice done to the sacred city of N’Kamba, the capital of the Kimbanguist Church, the paper proposes to see landscape
not only as a « lieu de mémoire » as classic studies of landscape have done so far, but also as a « lieu d’€™espoir », and looks at how different actors interpret prophetic places and create different, sometimes competing, enclaves of expectation.

Issu d’une enquête de terrain de deux ans en Seine-Saint-Denis, cet ouvrage donne la parole à des migrants récemment arrivés et à des familles immigrées de longue date. En se racontant, hommes et femmes, jeunes et parents sortent collectivement du silence.
Ils relatent le « travail de l’€™exil », d’épreuve en épreuve, et questionnent les métissages socioculturels, d’une génération à l’autre, dans les quartiers populaires. Au coeur de leurs vies, les « trous de mémoire » des familles et les « blancs » de l’histoire des migrations se conjuguent aux non-dits actuels de la société française et de son modèle d’€™intégration.

Parmi ces personnes, nombreuses sont celles qui vivent une triple rupture : avec leur passé (quand il ne leur est pas transmis), avec leur
langue et leur culture d’origine (quand celles-ci sont censées disparaître) et avec la réussite sociale en France (quand elles se sentent mises au ban).
La plupart ont connu différentes formes de précarité et parfois de violence, liées aux histoires personnelles, mais aussi aux problèmes de séjour, aux dominations de classe, de race et de genre. Ces parcours montrent, en effet loupe, les tensions sociales, les souffrances de l’exil, les impasses du métissage quand prévalent l’aveuglement, le mutisme et les relégations.

Looking for PhD candidate : The influence of International Organizations on the emergence of transnational NGOs and NGO networks

Looking for a PhD stipend for three years (2+1) in the field of  international / transnational relations for an empirical-analytical  dissertation about the influence of International Organizations on the  emergence of transnational NGOs and NGO networks. The precise topic of the dissertation is open and will be determined jointly by the  supervisor and the candidate. The successful candidate will become a  member of the Cluster of Excellence “Formation of Normative Orders” and be based at Technische Universität Darmstadt.

Candidates should have an MA degree in political science / IR or  sociology and a research interest in international / transnational  relations. The candidate may participate in seminars on methods,  research design etc. offered by the graduate schools of TU Darmstadt and  Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, but there is no compulsory coursework.

Very good knowledge of English is required, knowledge of German is an  asset.

L’Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR) lance, dans le cadre du « Plan d’action 2014″ qu’elle a adopté en juillet, un appel à projets générique.

Objective: The principal objective of this course is to review and question the underlying assumptions on social change that inform the current paradigms within development discourses on women, energy and health. We wish to enable doctoral students to better understand key concepts, debates and perspectives in energy, health and gender equality for the purposes of research, policy making and/or concrete programmes and projects.
