EU adopts overarching Post-2015 agenda
The EU Council adopted Conclusions this week (subsequently endorsed by Heads of Government) on the post-2015 development framework stating that eradication of poverty and the promotion of sustainable development should be integrated into an overarching agenda. The EU’s contribution to the global debate agreed the framework should be defined around a single set of global goals in order to drive action in all countries, building on the progress of the current Millennium Development Goals. Policy Coherence for Development needs to be enhanced across all sectors, and there is a need for a common and comprehensive approach to financing for development beyond aid, according to the report.
