IDB Call for Research Fellows/Washington DC

Call for Research Fellows (RFS)
 
  The Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) of the Inter-American Development Bank is seeking about six Research Fellows (RF) at the junior level (Masters) and Senior level (PhD) to work at Headquarters in Washington, D.C. OVE is an independent evaluation Office that conducts project, program and policy evaluations. RFs will impact the quality and timeliness of the Office’s work by providing inputs of technical nature to the production of evaluations.

RFs will work with senior staff on evaluations of the Bank’s program with borrowing countries, project and program evaluations, corporate evaluations, and sector and thematic evaluations. The Office’s upcoming work plan includes public and private sector project evaluations in environment and climate change, agriculture development and food security, private sector development, financial sector, infrastructure and urban development. The office will also undertake thematic evaluations of crime and violence, agriculture, climate change and environment and a corporate evaluation of a Trust Fund. The candidates should possess flexibility to work in various subjects, according to the demands of the Office.

Candidates should have completed or be near completion of a Master’s degree in Economics (including agricultural economics, environmental economics etc), Public Policy or a related field. Senior candidates should have completed or be near completion of a PhD, candidates should also possess some relevant work experience. Proficiency in English and Spanish/Portuguese and strong oral and written communication skills are required. Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in the use of qualitative and quantitative techniques and standard statistics and econometric software packages are required.  Experience with analysis of panel data, impact evaluation, and other analytic evaluation techniques are a plus.

 
  Qualifications:  
  Education: Master’s degree in Economics or related field. Senior candidates should have a PhD.  
  Experience: Candidates should possess some relevant academic or policy analysis work experience. Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in the use of qualitative and quantitative techniques and standard statistics and econometric software packages are required.  Experience with analysis of panel data, impact evaluation, and other analytic evaluation techniques is also desirable.  
  Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish/Portuguese and strong oral and written communication skills are required.  Proficiency in French is a plus.
