Today we’re happy to share another podcast from our « Decolonising Knowledge for Development » project and, for all podcast fans in your rows, we’d like to remind you of our « Hierarchies of Development » podcast which showcases a wealth of research and perspectives. Highlight: Internet Shutdowns in AfricaTechnology, Rights and PowerThis open access book authored entirely by African researchers and co-edited by Tony Roberts from IDS provides ten in-depth case studies of state-sponsored internet shutdowns across all regions of Africa. In so doing, it offers the first-ever comparative analysis of how African states use internet shutdowns as tools to close civic space, suppress opposition, and maintain power. . Ultimately, the book provides a unique comparative assessment of the dramatic economic, social, and political consequences of shutdowns – some intentional and some unintended. Read more
