Editorial

Today we’re happy to launch our survey on the future priorities of our work to which we cordially invite you to contribute! We’ve got two new blog posts continuing the discussion on development cooperation and policy in the Trump era, and would like to alert you to the special EJDR collection on Development Studies in the Mid-2020s related to our 50th anniversary. And, of course, the call for abstracts for our flagship conference next year is open until 21 December. From our Blog Finding Hope amidst the Ruins – Building a new Narrative for Development Cooperation “In a context of geopolitical turbulence, it is critical to develop a compelling narrative for increased global development cooperation”, argues Peter Taylor in this blog: « Also, as new alliances emerge, it is important that they are held accountable to ensure that they deliver for justice and equity, and that they incorporate the views and needs of people across the world who are marginalised and underrepresented ». The G7 and Global Development Architecture: Gradual Shift or Pivotal Moment? « Governments, parliaments, and non-state actors — who support what until recently was a broad global consensus on sustainable development need to find ways to counter the destructive influence of the Trump administration on established forums such as the G7 and G20 ». Andy Sumner and Stephan Klingebiel argue that the latest G7 Development Ministers’ Chair’s Summary « sounds like a political signal that the G7 intends to reshape how development cooperation is organised, coordinated and justified ». Take our Survey on Future Priorities for EADI! This May, EADI proudly celebrated 50 years of commitment to development research. Reaching this milestone also  offers an important opportunity to look ahead. As we shape the direction of our work for the years to come, your voice is essential. We kindly invite you to take part in a 10-15 minutes survey that will help us reflect on our future priorities and strengthen the association’s work. We would be grateful to receive your responses within the next three weeks. To the survey News from EADI Working Groups Our Social Protection Working Group has a new Brief out, introducing new publications and events all around the topic. Read the brief
