Bonne lecture !

Before the festive season, we invite you to discover the latest news from IFAS-Research.
Enjoy your reading!
Lesedi, IFAS-Research online journal, has released a new 72-page special issue entitled « Work-in-Progress ». It brings together ten articles written mainly by young IFAS-Research fellows (doctoral and post-doctoral students) who present their research fields and their recent work.
This issue also contains a tribute to Anwar Gambeno, choir director and composer from Cape Town, who passed away on 14 March 2022. Written by Denis-Constant Martin, Emeritus Research Director at the CNRS, this article is based on interviews with the musician conducted in the years 2000-2010, which shed new light on social interactions in Cape Town in the mid-twentieth century.
It is available for reading or downloading on the IFAS-Research website.
À paraître en janvier : l’ouvrage de Ludmila Ommundsen Pessoa, Welcome to Mitchell’s Plain. Filming a ‘Model Township’ during Apartheid

Coming up in January: Ludmila Ommundsen Pessoa’s book, Welcome to Mitchell’s Plain. Filming a ‘Model Township’ during Apartheid
This book focuses on the film propaganda used by the apartheid regime in the 1970s and 1980s during the authoritarian relocation of Cape Town’s ‘coloured’ population to the newly built township of Mitchell’s Plain –then presented as a huge social advance and a resounding success of the policy of spatial segregation pursued since the 1950s.
The book will be available online on the OpenEdition platform, as part of the ‘AfricaE‘ collection launched in 2021 by the four UMIFREs of the Africa cluster:

Appel à propositions/ Call for proposals
The CNRS is launching a series of calls for projects to promote scientific cooperation with and on the African continent. All countries on the continent are concerned.
