The CIRIEC Scientific Commission on Public Economy/Public Services organizes a webinar entitled ‘Public Development Banks and the Future of Public-Public Collaborations‘ presented by Thomas Marois.
Through the lens of public development banks and a concern for public pathways to financing global green and just transitions, Prof. Marois will reflect on Finance for Development summit negociated document and its potential to catalyze new public-public collaborations between public development banks and with public services.

Thomas Marois, is Professor of Political Economy in the Department of Political Science, McMaster University, Canada and formerly a Reader in Development Studies, SOAS University of London.
Author of Public Banks: Decarbonisation, Definancialisation, and Democratisation (Cambridge University Press, 2021) — awarded the 2023 Joan Robinson Prize
he explores pro-public financial alternatives to support green and just transitions.
Thomas collaborates with organizations such as UNCTAD, the Public Banking Institute, and Public Bank New York & San Francisco, and serves on the Council of Europe Development Bank’s Social Cohesion Award Jury.
His research continues to shape global discussions on how public finance can drive sustainable transformation.
